Our favorite book we are reading and interacting with!
Every Fall I go to a consignment sale to get clothes, toys, books and shoes for the boys that is held at a local church. I went this year and got the cutest book called “What Makes A Rainbow?” that Stanley has really loved. He enjoys reading it to himself now and says “what makes a rainbow, red makes a rainbow!”
He loves to turn the pages as we read about the different colors in the rainbow. We name the new ribbon that comes with each page turned. We talk about the animals on the page and how friends are needed to make the rainbow. With all of the colors added into it, it brings science, on a basic level to life.
With this being our favorite book it has helped us work on classifying colors with an activity from one of my favorite toddler activity blogs, Days with Grey. We did an activity with sorting colors onto a rainbow that I colored on paper. Every time Stanley went to a new color, he said “what makes a rainbow.” We used Duplo blocks that we have on hand, but it can be done with fruit, counting bears, pipe cleaners or colored random toys. If you have little kids and are not following her, you need to. She is great! Run to her blog, do not walk!
