Top 5 Kitchen gadgets I love
I am a person that spends a lot of time in the kitchen cooking and baking. My hubby and partner in crime spends a good amount of time grilling outside and in the kitchen cooking. He was the one to “master” the InstaPot when I was too scared when we had a small kitchen fire in the beginning of the year. It lasted all of seven minutes, no one was hurt, but did a lot of damage. My public service announcement- make sure you have fire extinguishers that are not expired and working smoke detectors. We managed to feed a family of four for two months without a stove or oven. (plus we did not eat out very much at all or get take-out= saving the budget)
We love to spend time in the kitchen eating and cooking. I have a bit of a brand loyalty when I find something I like. Those that know me would say that is true. I do not like ‘everything’ but what I do like, I really like. I am an ALL IN type of girl.
Here is a list of our top kitchen gadgets in no particular order.
The 6 Quart Instant Pot
What can I say, it saved us in the kitchen for 9 weeks!!! We have loved having this in our kitchen. I will have to share with you my fear of it when I got it in the mail. I opened it up, took it out, read the instructions, freaked out, put it back in the box. I waited another three weeks to get it out again. I know, you are saying “well, I will be scared too.” You will not be scared. Just make quinoa in one minute once it warms up and you will be a believer. We love making quinoa, rice, whole chicken, mashed potatoes, mac n’ cheese, tuna helper and meatloaf in it. Bonus: Here is a simple and easy to follow cookbook I own by Lorna Sass. I have the hardback version because I like to write in mine, put favorite recipes in the front, etc.
Oxo soap dispensers- When we moved into our house, like many people we wanted some nice things. I really wanted “nice” hand and dish soap dispensers to be by my farmhouse sink. I found these to be really great. These stainless steel soap dispensers are heavy duty, but look nice. They give out the right amount of soap with each pump. The base has an anti-skid stopper that helps. I do have to note, after having mine for 2 years, it got a little mildew underneath the stopper. I just took the stopper out and it works just as well. We have one for our hand soap and dish soap that we use countless number of times.
Simple Human Slim Sink Caddy- I wanted a sleek stainless steel look in my kitchen. I also HATE kitchen clutter. I like to think “less in more or hide it so I cannot see it.” This sink caddy hides the sponge, scrubbie pad and stores the Oxo dish brush. The two suction cups keeps it in place. I take mine apart and clean it every few weeks to get the grime out. It is a great purchase!
Progressive Flour Keeper - I would call myself a good baker. I really love to bake cookies, cakes, muffins and bread. With that being said, we use a lot of whole wheat and white flour. I got these two years ago and love them. They fit a 5 pound bag of flour in them with room to spare. They have a handy leveling bar in place so there is less mess. Unless you are baking with your cute toddler, then there is always a little more mess, but more memories and love. It keep the flour fresh until your next batch of cookies!
Swing-A-Way Can opener - Yes…can never go wrong with a great can opener. We had a can opener that someone got us from our wedding registry and it was awful. I think it lasted us a year or so. I invested in this can opener and it has really done the job well. Spend a few extra dollars and get this one. We really like. We cook a lot so there are always cans to be opened, from beans, to diced tomatoes to tuna. I do not have anything bad to say about it.
I hope you enjoy this list! Happy Cooking!
